The most innovative genius on the hardware market, Steve Jobs, died Wednesday at age 56, after a 7 years struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was regarded as one of the most important American leaders of his generation. Medicare premium increase could wipe out any gain from a Social Security cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) next year for three-quarters of Medicare beneficiaries, estimates AARP. Founded in 1958, AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that helps people 50 and over improve the quality of their lives.

The government is projecting a slight cost-of-living adjustment for Social Security benefits next year, the first increase since 2009.
